Sri Lanka Wildlife Parks: Post-COVID-19 Operations a New Start? Venturing Back into the Wilds
The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic has had a severe impact on various industries across the globe. The tourism industry was hit particularly hard in the face of travel restrictions and domestic lockdowns. Here in Sri Lanka, extended curfews meant that the island’s wildlife parks remained closed during the height of the pandemic. There have been several reports that the resident wildlife has been much more active in the absence of any significant human presence.
Over the past few months, the pandemic situation has slowly begun to wind down and this could mean that wildlife parks are poised to reopen soon. The Department of Wildlife Conservation has announced several new rules for park visitors in order to ensure both the safety of both the people and the wildlife. With parks set to reopen, you can also expect popular resorts associated with these reserves to be back in business
